Excellent analysis, B.A. classic jujitsu maneuver by Hamas: catch the IDF totally by surprise then goad them into obliteration bombing. I don’t see how this ends well for Israel either, especially if the country continues being run by the totally incompetent religious zealots who allowed this to happen in the first place.

The IDF has good special operations forces but never had particularly proficient infantry. Their ground forces' emphasis has always been on armor.

Israeli infantry looks good only when compared with its (Sunni) Arab state military counterparts. The best infantry force in the region probably belongs to Hezbollah.

The IDF is winning this war, just like every war they have fought despite Western Powers snatching victory from them each time. They have been surprised twice. They recovered each time. The Western world will try to stymie victory this time too but they have probably learned their lesson. I suspect the IDF will push through to destroy Hamas. Long overdue.

“Winning” or “losing” a war doesn’t mean anything. These are tactical terms. Strategy is about imposing a favorable political situation which is exactly what Hamas is doing and Israel isn’t.

Destroying every aspect of Hamas imposes a favorable political solution. Just like expelling US Forces from Vietnam and Afghanistan imposed a favorable political solution for our enemies. I am sure by now you have concluded that I lack the intellect to grasp your interpretations of Clausewitz. I thank you for continuing to humor me.

Hamas’ leadership is in Qatar, and they get material from Iran and Turkey. Israel isn’t destroying a single thing important to Hamas.

Bruh do you even know where the IDF was on Oct 7th?

Probably trusting their technology to monitor the border along with those tasked to do so who were asleep at the switch. I suppose at some future date there will be a comprehensive after action report to see who was where when, what they actually did and did not do. Not the first time the IDF was caught by surprise. Tends to happen in wars rather frequently. Pearl Harbor, Battle of the Bulge, Korea twice, Tet Offensive, Beirut, 911, Afghanistan. A closer look at IDF structure reveals that they have border patrol units that are virtually paramilitary forces. They are darlings of the international media who regularly misidentify them as front line army troops.

Thank you but you clearly have no idea where the IDF was that day. I'm guessing you're also unaware that it only takes about six hours to drive from the Golan Heights to Eilat yet the IDF needed 8.5 hours to respond to Oct 7th.
