Lots of people in Gaza didn't make this choice though. There are two million people there. A small fraction are Hamas.

Easy to be an armchair general, hard to do in reality. Gaza probably will be even harder to subjugate with artillery than Grozny was even if you care not a wit about civilian casualties (and in the real world, Israel will have to care because, like the US in Vietnam, the IDF is filled with people from a liberal society who do not like to be a participant in war crimes) because Hamas has built a warren of tunnels under Gaza.
