I was aware of the outlines of this struggle, but not the fines details. Great job on your part and my congratulations to you on bringing this all to light. This is actually tortuous to read in places, but actual history is like that sometimes. The big question now is, where to we go from here? Will Secretary Hegseth’s reform efforts help or not?

Pretty sure there’s no legislation to disband the Marine Corps right now.

The problem is Force Design 2030, from Commandant Berger, who eliminated all armor and artillery, and aviation by a serious percentage, plus reduced the Marine infantry substantially.

Smith, his successor, is an acolyte.

Berger’s plan is small units will occupy Pacific Islands and thwart Chinese expansion, but the Navy lacks ships to haul us around znd there are no missiles whatever.

All living former Commandants have expressed opposition to this insanity.

Not to mention the sticky problem of resupply and replacement of those scattered detachments, even if the missiles did exist.
